Usage
Apoquel® should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian. Apoquel® may be administered with or without food.
Missed Doses
Give the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose, and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give 2 doses at once.
Side Effects
Side effects may include diarrhea, vomiting, anorexia, polydipsia, dermal lumps, elevated liver enzymes, dermatitis, seizures, or lethargy. Notify your veterinarian if side effects appear and remain troublesome.
Other side effects may occur, if you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Drug & Food Interactions
The following drugs can potentially interact with oclacitinib: cyclosporine, glucocorticoids, and other immunosuppresive agents. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.
Make sure to tell your veterinarian what other medication or supplements you are giving to your pet. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, even if a drug interaction may occur. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely.
Cautions
Apoquel® is not for use in breeding dogs, or pregnant or lactating bitches.
Do not use on dogs less than 12 months of age or dogs with serious infections. Apoquel® may increase susceptibility to infection, including demodicosis, and exacerbate neoplastic conditions. Dogs receiving Apoquel® should be monitored for the development of infections, including demodicosis, and neoplasia. If dog shows signs of infection, difficulty breathing or is listless, or has a fever, contact your veterinarian immediately.  If you see abnormal skin changes or growths, contact your veterinarian. The use of Apoquel® has not been evaluated in combination with glucocorticoids, cyclosporine, or other systemic immunosuppressive agents.
Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; vomiting; widespread hives and itching.
