Clavamox® Chewable

Clavamox Chewable (amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium tablets) combines the power of amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium into an easy-to-dose, tasty, broad-spectrum antibiotic for a wide range of bacterial infections in dogs and cats. Clavamox Chewable is available by prescription from your vet and is often used to treat skin and soft tissue infections, such as wounds and abscesses, as well as periodontal disease in dogs and urinary tract infections in cats, due to susceptible strains of bacteria. This pork liver-flavored chewable tablet is highly rated by vets for its ease of use^3,4 and has been used to treat over 50 million pets⁴. People with known hypersensitivity to penicillin or cephalosporins should avoid exposure to Clavamox. Do not use in animals with a history of allergic reactions to penicillins or cephalosporins. See full Clavamox Prescribing Information.

Clavamox Chewable Tablets should be administered as directed by your veterinarian. Please consult your veterinarian before making any changes or discontinuing the prescribed dosing schedule.

Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed, even if your pet's condition improves. Incomplete treatment may result in recurrence or worsening of the infection. Contact your veterinarian ahead of time if your pet needs a refill.

If a dose is missed, administer it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give more medication than prescribed or two doses at once. If you have questions about your pet’s prescribed dosing schedule (e.g., timing, interval), please contact your veterinarian.

Follow your veterinarian’s instructions as prescribed.

Dogs: 6.25 mg/lb of body weight, twice a day.

Cats: 62.5 mg twice a day.

Store in a cool, dry place at a controlled temperature not exceeding 77°F. Keep this and all other medications in a secure location out of the reach of children and animals. Do not remove tablets from the foil strip until ready to use.

Exposure to extreme temperatures, light, or moisture can affect the integrity and effectiveness of medications. Always store this medication properly (e.g., away from the bathroom, kitchen sink, or other damp places).

The most common side effects of this medication are anorexia (decreased appetite), lethargy, vomiting, and diarrhea. These symptoms may improve over the course of treatment.

Contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet experiences severe vomiting or diarrhea, complete loss of appetite, loss of coordination, tremors, behavioral changes, or if any signs of an allergic reaction (e.g., facial or throat swelling, rash, difficulty breathing) occur.

Safety of use in pregnant or breeding animals has not been determined. Discuss the risks of using this medication with your veterinarian prior to use if your pet is in one of these groups.

Individuals sensitive to penicillin or cephalosporins should avoid exposure to this medication. If necessary, handle carefully and avoid contact with the skin and mucous membranes. Wear gloves when handling the medication if possible and wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water afterward (even if gloves are worn).

Do not administer this medication to animals with a known or suspected allergy/hypersensitivity to any penicillin or cephalosporin drugs, or to any other ingredient in the formulation. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Please inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known sensitivities or allergies, especially to medications and supplements.

If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue therapy and call your veterinarian immediately or seek emergency veterinary attention. Symptoms may include (but are not limited to): swollen lips, tongue, face, or airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; and widespread hives or itching.

While there are no specific drug or food interactions reported for this product, potential interactions may still be possible.

The following drugs* may have potential interactions with this medication: allopurinol, methotrexate, mycophenolate, and warfarin.

Please ensure your veterinarian is aware of all medications, supplements, and over-the-counter (OTC) products that your pet is currently using. Your veterinarian may prescribe multiple medications, even if a potential drug interaction may occur. In these instances, your veterinarian may adjust the dosages or monitor your pet more closely.
