Description
Drontal Plus for Dogs
  • Removes tapeworms, hookworms, roundworm and whipworms in dogs and puppies
  • Fights nine different species of intestinal parasites in dogs and puppies
  • Treats worms in a single dose
  • For use in dogs and puppies 3 weeks of age and older weighing 2 lbs or greater
  • Remove common worms from your pet.

INDICATIONS:
This drug is indicated for removal of Tapeworms (Dipylidium caninum, Taenia pisiformis, Echinococcus granulosus, and removal and control of Echinococcus multilocularis). For removal of Hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala), Ascarids (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina), and Whipworms (Trichuris vulpis) in dogs.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION:
CAUTION: Federal (U.S.A.) law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
DOSAGE: Not for use in puppies less than 3 weeks of age or weighing less than 2 lbs.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Do not use in pregnant animals. WARNING: Keep out of reach of children.

Drontal Plus (praziquantel/pyrantel pamoate/febantel) Broad Spectrum Anthelmintic Tablets are available in three sizes. Each size is scored for convenient oral administration.
  • Each Drontal Plus Tablet for Puppies and Small Dogs contains 22.7 mg praziquantel, 22.7 mg pyrantel base as pyrantel pamoate and 113.4 mg febantel.
  • Each Drontal Plus Tablet for Medium Sized Dogs contains 68.0 mg praziquantel, 68.0 mg pyrantel base as pyrantel pamoate and 340.2 mg febantel.
  • Each Drontal Plus Tablet for Large Dogs contains 136.0 mg praziquantel, 136.0 mg pyrantel base as pyrantel pamoate, and 680.4 mg febantel.

Usage
Drontal Plus Tablets for Dogs should be administered as directed by your veterinarian. Please consult your veterinarian before making any changes or discontinuing the prescribed dosing schedule.
Do not give more medication than prescribed or two doses at once. If you have questions about your pet’s prescribed dosing schedule (e.g., timing, interval), please contact your veterinarian.

Manufacturer Directions for Use*
Drontal Plus Tablets have been developed for oral administration. Tablets may be given directly by mouth or offered in a small amount of food. Fasting is neither necessary nor recommended prior to or after treatment.

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place at a controlled room temperature between 59°F - 86°F. Keep this and all other medications in a secure location out of the reach of children and animals.
Exposure to extreme temperatures, light, or moisture can affect the integrity and effectiveness of medications. Always store this medication properly (e.g., away from the bathroom, kitchen sink, or other damp places).



Side effects
There are no documented side effects reported for this product when given according to the manufacturer’s recommended guidelines.
Possible side effects may include vomiting, decreased appetite, lethargy, and diarrhea.

Precautions
For oral use in dogs only.

Do NOT use in pregnant animals.
Strict hygienic precautions should be taken when handling dogs or feces suspected of harboring E. multilocularis.
Caution may be advised in patients with liver disease or seizure disorders.

Do not administer this medication to animals with a known or suspected allergy/hypersensitivity to praziquantel, pyrantel, febantel, or fenbendazole. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Please inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known sensitivities or allergies, especially to medications and supplements.
If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue therapy and call your veterinarian immediately or seek emergency veterinary attention. Symptoms may include (but are not limited to): swollen lips, tongue, face, or airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; and widespread hives or itching.

Food and drug interactions
While there are no specific food or drug interactions reported for this product, potential interactions may still be possible.
The following drugs* may have potential interactions with this medication: dexamethasone, itraconazole, ketoconazole, and phenobarbital.
*NOTE: This may not be a comprehensive list. As with all medications, please consult your veterinarian if you have any questions or concerns prior to use. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when multiple medications and/or supplements are given together.

Please ensure your veterinarian is aware of all medications, supplements, and over-the-counter (OTC) products that your pet is currently using. Your veterinarian may prescribe multiple medications, even if a potential drug interaction may occur. In these instances, your veterinarian may adjust the dosages or monitor your pet more closely.
