GENESIS Topical Spray (0.015% triamcinolone acetonide) for Dogs

GENESIS Topical Spray is an ultra-low concentration (0.015%) of triamcinolone acetonide in a topical spray, clinically proven to control the pruritus associated with allergic dermatitis in dogs.¹
Spray-on Symptom Relief: GENESIS Topical Spray is a clinically proven anti-inflammatory and anti-itch solution to control pruritus associated with allergic dermatitis in dogs. It should be used directly on affected areas to provide itch relief.
Simple administration: Spray uniformly and thoroughly, wetting the affected areas while avoiding run-off. Avoid eyes, mouth, and nose.
Proven Effective: Triamcinolone Acetonide is a highly potent synthetic glucocorticoid, with powerful topical anti-inflammatory action.

INDICATIONS:

GENESIS Topical Spray is indicated for the control of pruritus associated with allergic dermatitis in dogs.

For use on dogs only. The use of this product in dogs less than eight pounds, less than one year of age, breeding, pregnant, or lactating has not been evaluated. In a field study with GENESIS Topical Spray, polyuria, polyphagia, aversion/discomfort, sneezing or watery eyes were reported in dogs receiving treatment. GENESIS Topical Spray contains 0.15 mg triamcinolone acetonide per mL (0.015%) of solution. This product is available in an 8-fluid ounce (237 mL) bottle with a spray applicator.

Usage

GENESIS Topical Spray should be administered as directed by your veterinarian. Wear gloves when applying this product. Please consult your veterinarian before making any changes or discontinuing the prescribed dosing schedule.

If a dose is missed: Administer it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not apply more medication than prescribed or two doses at once. If you have questions about your pet’s prescribed dosing schedule (e.g., timing, interval), please contact your veterinarian.

Manufacturer Dosage and Administration*

Apply sufficient pump sprays to uniformly and thoroughly wet the affected areas while avoiding run-off of excess product. Avoid getting the spray in dog’s eyes. GENESIS Topical Spray should be administered twice daily for seven days, once daily for the next seven days, then every other day for an additional 14 days (28 days total).

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place at a controlled room temperature (59° - 86° F). Keep this and all other medications in a secure location out of the reach of children and animals. Keep tightly closed when not in use.

Exposure to extreme temperatures, light, or moisture can affect the integrity and effectiveness of medications. Always store this medication properly (e.g., away from the bathroom, kitchen sink, or other damp places), as outlined on the product label.

Side effects

The following side effects have been reported in dogs receiving treatment with this medication: polyuria (increased urination), polyphagia (increased appetite/hunger), aversion/discomfort, sneezing and watery eyes.

Contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet complete loss of appetite; atypically low energy level; extreme behavioral changes (e.g., aggression); vomiting that is severe, appears bloody, or has a “coffee grounds” appearance; or black, tarry, or bloody stools.

Precautions

Before using this product, please review the product label for any relevant warnings and safety precautions. See package insert for complete information.

For topical use on dogs only. Keep this and all drugs out of reach of children and animals.

Wear gloves when applying this product and wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after application. Spray in a well-ventilated area. If the spray causes irritation to mucous membranes, discontinue use.

Avoid getting the spray in your dog’s eyes. Prevent the animal from licking or chewing at the treated area for at least 20 to 30 minutes after application.

The safety of long-term or repeated use of this product (greater than 28 days) has not been evaluated. Prolonged use or overdosage of any corticosteroid may produce adverse effects.

In the presence of dermatological infections, use of an appropriate antifungal or antibacterial agent should be instituted. If a favorable response does not occur promptly, the corticosteroid should be discontinued until the infection has been adequately controlled.

Do not administer this medication to animals with a known or suspected allergy/hypersensitivity to it or any of its ingredients. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Please inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known sensitivities or allergies, especially to medications and supplements.

If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue therapy and call your veterinarian immediately or seek emergency veterinary attention. Symptoms may include (but are not limited to): swollen lips, tongue, face, or airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; and widespread hives or itching.

Drug and food interactions

While there are no specific drug or food interactions reported for this product, potential interactions may still be possible. As with all medications, please consult your veterinarian if you have any questions or concerns prior to use. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when multiple medications and/or supplements are given together.

Please ensure your veterinarian is aware of all medications, supplements, and over-the-counter (OTC) products that your pet is currently using. Your veterinarian may prescribe multiple medications, even if a potential drug interaction may occur. In these instances, your veterinarian may adjust the dosages or monitor your pet more closely.
