Dogs with recurrent gastrointestinal upset may have a food or fat sensitivity. Dogs that have a food allergy (typically to a protein in the food) or intolerance, may respond to a food designed for food sensitivities while dogs with a fat sensitivity require a low fat food but determining which nutrition to use is frequently a trial and error process.

With this in mind, Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians developed Prescription Diet z/d Low Fat, which is clinical nutrition specially formulated for dogs with food and fat sensitivities.
