SENVELGO (velagliflozin oral solution) is indicated to improve glycemic control in otherwise healthy cats with diabetes mellitus not previously treated with insulin.

The use of SENVELGO in cats with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, or the withdrawal of insulin and initiation of SENVELGO, is associated with an increased risk of diabetic ketoacidosis or euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis and death.

Sudden onset of hyporexia/anorexia, lethargy, dehydration, or weight loss in cats receiving SENVELGO should prompt immediate discontinuation of SENVELGO and assessment for diabetic ketoacidosis, regardless of blood glucose level.

SENVELGO should not be initiated in cats with ketonuria, ketonemia, pancreatitis, anorexia, dehydration, or lethargy at the time of diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, as it may indicate the presence of other concurrent disease and increase the risk of diabetic ketoacidosis.

Keep SENVELGO in a secure location out of reach of children, dogs, cats, and other animals to avoid accidental ingestion or overdose.

Senvelgo Oral Solution is honey flavored.

Senvelgo Oral Solution contains 15 mg of velagliflozin per mL of oral solution. Each bottle includes an oral dosing syringe.

Please note: The supplied bottle will be larger than the indicated fill volume. This is intentional to account for manufacturing tolerances, temperature or pressure changes during storage and shipping, and to help prevent accidental leakage.

Senvelgo Oral Solution should be administered as directed by your veterinarian. Please consult your veterinarian before making any changes or discontinuing the prescribed dosing schedule.

If a dose is missed, administer it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give more medication than prescribed or two doses at once. If you have questions about your pet’s prescribed dosing schedule (e.g., timing, interval), please contact your veterinarian.

The dose may be administered directly into the mouth or with a small amount of wet food. Do not mix into food.

SENVELGO should be administered using the dosing syringe provided in the package. The dosing syringe fits onto the bottle and has a body weight scale with increments per pound of body weight. The dose should be rounded down to the nearest pound.

How to Administer:

1. Push down and turn cap to open bottle, then attach the dosing syringe to the plug-in adapter of the bottle.

2. Turn the bottle upside down. Pull the plunger back until you reach the dosage prescribed by your vet.

3. Separate the dosing syringe from the bottle, then push the plunger to empty the contents of the syringe directly into the cat’s mouth OR apply to a small amount of wet food.

4. If needed, clean the syringe with a clean, dry cloth. Give SENVELGO oral solution at approximately the same time each day.

Store in a cool, dry place at a controlled temperature at or below 77°F with excursions permitted up to 104°F. Once the bottle is opened, use the contents within six months. Keep SENVELGO oral solution in a secure location out of reach of dogs, cats, and other animals to avoid accidental ingestion or overdose.

Exposure to extreme temperatures, light, or moisture can affect the integrity and effectiveness of medications. Always store and dispose of this medication properly, as outlined on the product label.

The most common side effects are diarrhea or loose stool, vomiting, and weight loss. SENVELGO oral solution, like other drugs, may have side effects. Serious side effects have happened with or without warning and sometimes led to death in cats treated with SENVELGO oral solution. Serious side effects may require your cat to be hospitalized and to be given specific treatments, including insulin.

For oral use in cats only.

Not for use in humans. Keep this and all other medications out of reach of children and animals.

Wash hands after use. This product may cause mild eye irritation. Avoid contact with eyes. If the product accidentally gets into the eyes, rinse eyes immediately with plenty of water; if wearing contact lenses, rinse the eyes first then remove contact lens(es) and continue to rinse for 5-10 minutes. If eye irritation continues or accidental ingestion occurs, seek medical advice and provide this product information to the physician. Exposure to Senvelgo may induce local or systemic allergic reactions in sensitized individuals.

Do NOT use Senvelgo in cats with diabetes mellitus who have previously been treated with insulin, who are receiving insulin, or in cats with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.

SENVELGO contains propylene glycol. When cats are administered SENVELGO at the 1 mg/kg/day dose, cats receive 40 mg/kg/day of propylene glycol. Exceeding 80 mg/kg/day of propylene glycol may result in excess hepatic glycogen stores. Use caution when administering SENVELGO to cats receiving other products that contain propylene glycol.

The safety and effectiveness of SENVELGO in breeding, pregnant, and lactating cats has not been evaluated. Discuss the risks of using this medication with your veterinarian prior to use if your pet falls into one of these categories.

Do not administer this medication to animals with a known or suspected allergy/hypersensitivity to it or any of its ingredients. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Please inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known sensitivities or allergies, especially to medications and supplements.

If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue therapy and call your veterinarian immediately or seek emergency veterinary attention. Symptoms may include (but are not limited to): swollen lips, tongue, face, or airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; and widespread hives or itching.

The concurrent use of volume depleting drugs in cats treated with SENVELGO has not been evaluated. SENVELGO has not been evaluated with concurrent use of insulin or other blood glucose lowering treatments.

The following drugs* may have potential interactions with this medication: ACE inhibitors (e.g., benazepril), amlodipine, beta blockers (e.g., atenolol), corticosteroids (e.g., dexamethasone, prednisolone), diuretics (e.g., furosemide [Salix]), fluoroquinolone antibiotics (e.g., ciprofloxacin), insulins, NSAIDs, SSRIs (e.g., fluoxetine), sulfonylureas (e.g., glipizide), and telmisartan (Semintra).

*NOTE: This may not be a comprehensive list. Please consult your veterinarian if you have any questions or concerns prior to use. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when multiple medications and/or supplements are given together.

Please ensure your veterinarian is aware of all medications, supplements, and over-the-counter (OTC) products that your pet is currently using. Your veterinarian may prescribe multiple medications, even if a potential drug interaction may occur. In these instances, your veterinarian may adjust the dosages or monitor your pet more closely.
