UpCard-CA1 Oral Solution contains torsemide, a potent loop diuretic, and is indicated for use in concurrent therapy with pimobendan, spironolactone, and an ACE inhibitor for the management of pulmonary edema in dogs with congestive heart failure. There are 2 mg of torsemide in each mL of UpCard-CA1.

Usage
UpCard-CA1 Oral Solution should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian. Wash your hands after handling this medication and/or if spillage occurs.
Routine bloodwork and/or close monitoring by your veterinarian may be required while your pet is taking this medication. Do not miss any follow-up visits.
Ensure your pet always has free access to fresh water while on this medication.
Manufacturer Dosage & Directions

Administer orally once daily at 0.05 to 0.2 mg/lb (0.11 to 0.44 mg/kg, corresponding to 0.025 to 0.10 mL/lb) of bodyweight.
Do not exceed a dose of 0.2 mg/lb (0.44 mg/kg) per day, corresponding to 0.1 mL/lb (0.22 mL/kg).
UpCard-CA1 may be administered with or without food.
Long-term diuretic therapy with UpCard-CA1 should be continued at the lowest effective dose, with any adjustments made under veterinary supervision.
Missed Doses
Administer the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give two doses at once.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include (but are not limited to): vomiting, diarrhea, appetite loss, and increased thirst or urination. Additional potential side effects may include excessive thirst, lack of urination, racing heartbeat, weakness, and lethargy.
Notify your veterinarian if the effects described above or any other side effects appear and become persistent or troublesome.
Other side effects may occur. If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Drug & Food Interactions
The following medications may have potential interactions with this medication (but may not be a comprehensive list): antidiabetics (including insulins), antihypertensives, corticosteroids, cyclosporine (Atopica), furosemide (Salix), NSAIDs, and sedative medications.
Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.
Please ensure your veterinarian is aware of all medications and supplements that your pet is currently receiving. Your veterinarian may prescribe multiple medications, even if a potential drug interaction may occur. In these instances, your veterinarian may adjust the dosage(s) or monitor your pet more closely.

For use in dogs only- not for human use.
Do not administer to dogs with renal failure, anuria, severe dehydration, hypovolemia, or hypotension.
Do not administer UpCard-CA1 concomitantly with other loop diuretics.
UpCard-CA1 should be used only in stable dogs with congestive heart failure caused by MMVD which has been diagnosed by means of a comprehensive physical and cardiac examination.
The safe use of UpCard-CA1 has not been established in dogs used for breeding or that are pregnant/lactating.
Do not administer to animals with known history or suspected allergy/hypersensitivity to this medication or any of its ingredients. Use with caution in animals with a known history or suspected allergy to sulfonamides.
Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies.
If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue therapy and call your veterinarian immediately or seek emergency veterinary attention. Symptoms may include (but are not limited to): swollen lips, tongue, face, or airways, difficulty breathing, agitation, profuse salivation, and widespread hives or itching.

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place at a controlled temperature at or below 86°F. Excursions are permitted between 39 to 104°F. Discard 90 days after opening.
Keep the container tightly sealed and out of the reach of children and pets. Store away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not store this medication in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in damp places. The medicine may break down if exposed to heat or moisture.
